Alicia Peterson
YA & Middle Grade Fantasy/Sci-Fi Author
After sixteen years and thousands of books read as a teen librarian, Alicia got serious about adding her own books to the shelf. She is drawn to literary crossroads, the places where different tropes and genres meet and start a band together. She writes fantasy with snappy dialogue, a heapin’ helping of romance, plenty of humor, and slightly wonky versions of modern historical settings (19th and 20th centuries).
Her current projects include a YA romantasy retelling of The Little Mermaid set in World War I-era Duluth, and a space western adventure for middle grade. She also published a supernatural rom-com on the now-defunct Kindle Vella serial platform.
She writes flash fiction and has won the Lake Superior Writers Contest three times in the “Short Short Fiction” category. She currently publishes with Havok Publishing and has stories included in their 2025 and 2026 collections, as well as online.
A nerd through and through, her hobbies include crocheting Doctor Who ponies, reading ALL the informational signs while hiking, and exercising that Music History degree by playing name-that-tune with classical radio. Her faith challenges her to strive to reflect glimpses of the wonder and complexity of God’s world through her stories. She lives in Northern Minnesota with her husband, two young sons, one handsome but neurotic dog, and 23 accidental chickens.
